Extension Forester Testifies on Forestry Research File 154 K 11/01/2005 Dr. Daniels spoke on the extension and application of research from his perspective as an extension professor at Mississippi State University. Daniels offered several recommendations for improving the forestry research, as outlined in the attached written testimony. Robert M. Franklin, who started his Clemson Extension career in March of 1985, received his award from Clemson President Jim Barker during a December faculty meeting. Alabama Extension Forester Reappointed to 2nd term of NUCFAC Link 1 K 07/12/2006 WASHINGTON, July 5, 2006 - Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today announced the selection of six members to USDA's National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (NUCFAC). There are four new members and two are reappointed. Their terms begin immediately. The four new members appointed to the 15-member council are Carl Nordstrom, executive director, New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Association, Lawrenceville, N. J.; Dan Lambe, vice president, programs, National Arbor Day Foundation, Lincoln, Neb.; Stephen Shurtz, landscape and forestry manager, City of Baton Rouge, La.; and James Kielbaso, professor emeritus, urban forestry, Okemos, Mich. Two members have been reappointed to serve a second term: Brenda M. Allen, associate professor and extension specialist, urban forestry, Auburn University, Tuskegee, Ala.; and Joseph Wilson, executive director, Greening Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisc. Mr. Wilson was re-appointed the Chair of NUCFAC. Established under the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, the council advises the Secretary on the care and management of trees, forests and related natural resources in urban and community settings throughout the nation. In addition, the council makes recommendations to the USDA Forest Service's Urban and Community Forestry Program on competitive cost-share grants that advance the science and practice of urban forestry. Members of the Council serve without compensation and dedicate approximately 100 hours each year.

Williamson Serves in Shared Faculty Position News Item 2 K 03/21/2007 Dr. Bob Williamson of North Carolina A&T University is serving in a shared faculty position covering CSREES Wildlife and Fisheries national program responsibilities. Williamson is committing 20 percent of his time to this position, which began March 1, 2007. Williamson's principal responsibility is to represent CSREES on wildlife and fisheries concerns. This includes addressing the wildlife and fisheries component in the upcoming annual review of the USDA Strategic Plan's Goal 6 - "Protect and Enhance the Nation's Natural Resource Base and Environment." He will also represent CSREES at the 2008 North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference.
