Assistant Professor of Natural Resource Management and Administration

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position in the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR). The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the SENR teaching and advising programs in parks, recreation and tourism from the perspective of natural resource administration and management. Expectations also include the development of a nationally recognized research program utilizing a strong theoretical background in one of the social sciences applied to the management of renewable natural resources (forests, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, soils, etc.) in parks and protected areas. • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to natural resource administration and management with a strong emphasis on outdoor recreation.

• Advise graduate and undergraduate students, including honors students, and assist with advising student organizations.

• Secure extramural funding and publish in refereed journals.

• Develop an independent and competitive research program with a focus on graduate education.

• Work collaboratively with other University faculty/personnel, agencies, non-government organizations, and citizen groups to advance the land grant mission of the University.

• Serve the University and professional communities through appropriate activities.

Qualifications: Earned Ph.D. with a foundation in natural resource administration and management for outdoor recreation and tourism. Evidence of a strong theoretical foundation in one of the social sciences is important, and at least one degree in park administration or natural resource management is desirable. Demonstrated teaching and research expertise are preferred. The successful candidate must also exhibit excellent quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills and the willingness and ability to collaborate with other faculty, particularly in the renewable resource management focus areas of SENR (Wildlife, Fisheries, Forestry, Soils).

Salary/Support: Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
