SUMMARY:Emerging Issues Along Urban/Rural Interfaces\: Linking Science and Society
DTSTART:20050313T192400Z
DTEND:20050316T192400Z
DESCRIPTION:The pace of urbanization is accelerating in many parts of
the world\, leading to rapidly changing environmental conditions along
  urban-rural interfaces\, broadly speaking. In turn\, these changing c
onditions are creating new ecological and societal challenges and oppo
rtunities. We seek to bring together researchers\, practitioners\, and
policy makers to share current research results and to identify knowl
edge gaps regarding the interaction between urbanization and natural r
esources. In particular\, approaches that focus on integrating socioec
onomic and ecological research will be highlighted.
