Assistant Extension Professor
The Department of Forestry at Mississippi State University has an opening for an Assistant Extension Professor (100% Extension). This is a full-time, continuing 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position.

Location: NW Mississippi Area Extension Forestry Office, Grenada MS.
Function: The responsibilities include planning and implementing a comprehensive, science-based forestry extension program to meet the education needs of targeted audiences in NW Mississippi. The opportunity exists for the specialist to be assigned statewide responsibility for subject matter programming in the individual's area of expertise. The primary role of the specialist is to work closely with county extension personnel, local county forestry associations, and state and federal agencies to serve the needs of various forestry client groups in the assigned area. Program methods and techniques will include short courses, workshops, field days, demonstrations, mass and electronic media, publications, in-service training, and individual contacts. Audiences and cooperators include private landowners, loggers, natural resources professionals, business and industry officials, members of public and private organizations, 4-H/Youth, and the general public.
Salary: Commensurate with Qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: An earned PhD in forestry with emphasis on the management and use of forest resources or a closely related field. At least one degree must be from an accredited forestry program. Emphasis will be placed on a demonstrated knowledge of forest management and use, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a desire to work with diverse groups of people on a daily basis.
