TITLE:  Assistant Professor of Quantitative Silviculture/Biometrics

 

Position:  Nine-month, tenure-track appointment, 70% teaching, 25% research, 5% service.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Department:  School of Forestry

General Information:  The School of Forestry offers Bachelor's of Science degrees in Forestry (BSF) and Geographic Information Science (BS).  Minors are also offered in Forestry, Wildlife Conservation and Geographic Information Science.  The School of Forestry is in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences, which has 76 faculty, 34 staff and 1,760 students.  Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana has an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students.  Ruston, located in the rolling hills of north central Louisiana, has a population of 23,000.  For more information about the university see our web page at http://www.latech.edu.

 

Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research, and assist in the School's overall mission.  Duties will include a major commitment to undergraduate instruction in silviculture, growth & yield, forest management and/or other areas of expertise as needed; advising undergraduate students; developing a focused research program; seeking and securing external funding and; participation in outreach activities.  The successful applicant will be expected to build an externally funded research program and work with forestry clients in the region as well as in cooperation with existing and future Unit faculty.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
