The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES, COOPERATIVE EXTENSION is seeking a career-track academic candidate to coordinate and manage the overall operation of Cooperative Extension in Inyo and Mono Counties (25% time administration). In addition, the Advisor will initiate, develop and conduct educational/research programs in Natural Resources (range management; forestry; wildlife; conservation biology; invasive weeds; water quality/quantity; brush control; ag/urban interface issues; livestock industry, etc) relevant to the needs of the county and its residents (75% time program). The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES, COOPERATIVE EXTENSION is seeking a career-track academic candidate to coordinate and manage the overall operation of Cooperative Extension in Inyo and Mono Counties (25% time administration).  In addition, the Advisor will initiate, develop and conduct educational/research programs in Natural Resources (range management; forestry; wildlife; conservation biology; invasive weeds; water quality/quantity; brush control; ag/urban interface issues; livestock industry, etc) relevant to the needs of the county and its residents (75% time program).  Emphasis will be on developing linkages with client groups, researchers, policymakers, agencies, and organizations relevant to the subject matter.

 

Academic appointees in Cooperative Extension are responsible for performance in: extending knowledge and information; applied research and creative activity; professional competence and activity; and University and public service.

 

A Masters degree in an appropriate area related to natural resources is required.  Competency and practical experience in natural resources as related to the livestock industry, invasive weeds, water quality/quantity, brush control, and ag/urban interface issues is desired.  Must be able to show a demonstrated capacity to provide leadership for an academic unit.  Experience with educational program design and research design methodologies required.  Effective writing and speaking skills are essential.  Computer skills are essential.

 

Beginning salary will be in the UC Cooperative Extension Associate to Full Title Advisor rank (DOQ).
