POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Forestry Extension Specialist/Educator IV.
University of Massachusetts - Amherst
Position description: Provide leadership in the programmatic and entrepreneurial scope of the Center for Rural Massachusetts (CRM) within the Department of Natural Resources Conservation in conjunction with the Natural Resources & Environmental Conservation Program (NREC). Provide leadership for the development, production, and presentation of advanced and complex education programs in forestry for clientele and Extension staff. Direct and participate in the preparation and delivery of educational and informational materials. Serve as coordinator with other specialists and agents in the program and faculty. Plan and conduct advanced, complex applied or developmental research. Prepare Extension research and other reports, and publish findings in trade, professional, and academic publications, and Extension bulletins.
Qualifications:
1) Master's degree in forestry, or comparable degree, and at least five years of professional experience in regional or local forest management, preferably in New England.
2) Experience with computers desirable, including web-based applications and design.
3) Ability to maintain a diverse schedule of local, regional, and statewide activity which is not restricted by access to public or private transportation.
4) Excellent interpersonal and group process skills, and demonstrated ability to participate effectively in professional team efforts and with diverse groups of people.
5) Knowledge and demonstrated ability to implement adult education theories and practices with diverse audiences.
Hiring Salary Range: $51,000 to $65,400; Normal starting salary $51,000 to $58,200.
