Assistant Professor, Urban Forestry

Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D. with an emphasis in urban forestry, arboriculture, landscape horticulture, or closely related field.
Desired: Tree care industry experience highly desirable. Strong interdisciplinary background in urban forestry desired. At least one degree in forestry preferred.
Responsibilities: Teaching and research in urban forestry: teach undergraduate courses in urban forestry; advise undergraduates and supervise graduate students; conduct research in the area of urban forestry and arboriculture and publish the results in refereed literature; acquire external grants and contracts to fund an innovative research program; provide leadership in directing a departmental urban forestry option for undergraduates; participate in outreach programs of the department and college; participate in university service and the governance system.

Starting date is negotiable, with a target of January 1, 2005.
