Assistant/Associate Professor, Forest Health, Auburn University
Auburn University’s School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the area of Forest Health and the interactions of introduced and native fungi and insect vectors in forest ecosystems located in the southern US. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position, with 80% research and 20% teaching responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions: develop a significant research program through active pursuit of extramural funding, recruitment of graduate students, and publications in high-quality refereed journals; teach a core undergraduate course in the forestry curriculum, and develop one graduate course in area of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. PhD in Entomology, Pathology, Forestry, Biology or a closely related field
2. research and teaching interests focused on contemporary research and how forest management practices influence stand and ecosystem health
3. potential for teaching excellence
4. a solid record of research productivity, including ability to obtain extramural grants and publish findings in high-quality refereed journals
5. excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. strong forest pathology and entomology background
2. experience in an applied decision-making context on habitat restoration, risk mapping systems and habitat restoration
3. evidence of collaboration at the international level on forest declines
4. Advocacy for, and initiation of, collaborative, broad-based, interdisciplinary research and outreach
5. Strong commitment to achieving and sustaining diversity among students, faculty, and staff
6. Experience building relationships with public, private, and international sectors, including alumni and stakeholders
