EXTENSION SPECIALIST, COMMUNITY FORESTRY VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
This is a limited term position and continued employment is contingent upon continuation of funding from the Urban and Community Forestry Program through the USDA Forest Service. The Extension Specialist will have statewide responsibility to carry out Extension's delivery of urban forestry assistance to state and local level volunteer-based organizations. Specific job responsibilities include collecting and evaluating data; planning educational programs and activities; developing, reviewing and revising program materials; planning and conducting educational programs and activities in urban forestry; submitting reports; conducting an effective public relations program; and maintaining professional expertise. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements are a Master's degree in forestry, horticulture, public administration, management, leadership, human resource management, community planning or closely related field. Candidates should also possess demonstrated knowledge of volunteer/non-profit organizations and evidence of professional involvement, academic creativity, and scholarship.
Preferred requirements include course work in forest biology, communications, sociology, and management. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
