Job Overview
Develop, coordinate, and implement sustainable urban and community forestry programs to promote community involvement in the planning, planting and maintenance of trees within Vermont communities. Provide outreach education to include develop and conduct training workshops, maintain databases and local networks, and publicize and communicate volunteer and partnership activities.
Typical Functions
Assist communities to improve analysis and understanding of natural resource management policy alternatives and consequences. Foster public policy discussions to
facilitate increased cooperation and collaboration on natural resource decision making among stakeholder groups and create and maintain partnerships with natural
resource public agencies and nongovernmental organizations. Assist in development of community forestry programs by identifying, recruiting and supporting individuals and local community groups in tree planning, preservation, planting and maintenance. Identify technical and organizational needs and coordinate related programs and provide technical expertise, organizational support and delivery assistance Provide support for individuals and organizations involved in community forestry programs to include provide technical and organizational assistance, identify training needs and coordinate related programs, develop informational material for distribution, assist in meteting organization and attend professional meetings and workshops to maintain national and regional networks and stay current on related issues. Develop and implement public relations program to include produce newsletter, develop program materials, write and distribute articles and press releases that promote community forestry.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelors degree in a related field with coursework or experience in forestry, natural resources or environmental management and three years related experience required. Knowledge of multiple use management of urban forest resources, effective oral and written communication skills, proficiency with current computer applications and ability to develop and coordinate a comprehensive multi-faceted statewide program. Ability to travel to off-site locations. Commitment to diversity and inclusion required.
Desirable Qualifications
Background in public relations, education or arboriculture desirable.

Salary Range
High 20s - low 30s
