Qualifications:Ph.D. degree withspecialization in forest economics and/or management. At least onedegree, preferably the baccalaureate, must be from an accreditedprofessional forestry program.

Responsibilities:Teachingresponsibilities are at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to conduct an extramurally-fundedresearch program in the specialized field of forest economics. Researchareas of interest may include but are not limited to: forest-basedeconomic development, sustainable management and utilization of forestresources, forest investment, impacts of engineered wood products andother new or non-traditional wood products on timber supply and demand.Service responsibilities include interaction with constituents as wellas participation in departmental, college, and university activities.

Rank and Salary:Tenure-track,full-time, 12-month appointment. Salary is negotiable and commensuratewith qualifications and experience.

The Department ofForestry: TheDepartment of Forestry is one of 3 departments in the College of ForestResources and the Mississippi Forest and Wildlife Research Center, aseparately-funded State agency. Departmental activities includeundergraduate and graduate instruction, research, and extensionprograms in forestry and natural resources. The Departments facilitieson the Mississippi State University campus are supplemented by the JohnW. Starr Memorial Forest, an 8,200-acre research forest. Opportunitiesalso exist for cooperative relationships with other departments in theUniversity, agencies of the federal and state government, and companiesin the forest products industry.
