Faculty Tenure-Track Position for Forest Policy, Economics and Administration; Humboldt State University

Humboldt State University’s Department of Forestry & Wildland Resources invites applications for an academic year tenure-track faculty position specializing in Forest Policy, Economics and Administration with a focus on regulatory and economic processes regarding sustainable forest management. The successful candidate is expected to serve as an expert in state and federal regulations, monitor changes in forest policy and the important economic implications associated with such changes, and serve as a liaison to state-level forest administration.

Essential Job Functions:  commit to teaching excellence and to building a strong research record; prepare and assign instructional assignments consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students; teach Forest Policy, Economics, and Administration courses, in addition to general forestry-based courses; develop a research program in Forest Policy, Economics, and Administration, include graduate and/or undergraduate students in own scholarly work; perform technology transfer of current forest science information to policy-makers, the forest products industry, and the general public; participate in graduate programs within the College of Natural Resources and Sciences; advise students; participate in campus and system-wide committees; maintain office hours; work collaboratively and productively with colleagues; and participate in traditional academic functions.

 

Qualifications:

1. A Ph.D. or equivalent in Forestry or a closely related field specializing in Forest Policy, Economics, and Administration from an accredited institution of higher education

2.

A minimum of three years of experience working on issues related to the timber industry

 

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

4.Potential for or record of research, scholarly and/or creative activity, involving students whenever possible

5.Varied teaching methods

6.Ability to teach a broad range of courses to a diverse student body
