Position: Nine month, tenure-track appointment, includingteaching, research, and outreach. Salary commensurate withqualifications and experience. Summer salary may be available.Qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD in forestryor natural resource management, or a related discipline, with aspecialization in GIS/GPS, photo interpretation or remote sensing.Candidates should have a working knowledge of ArcView and its modules,ArcInfo and ERDAS as well as digital image processing and GISintegration. Experience with Trimble GPS equipment and software(Pathfinder Office and Terra Sync) is required. Research interests
should be in the area of GIS/remote sensing with an emphasis on naturalresources. Interest in developing and maintaining DistanceEducation/Internet curriculum in Geographic Information Science isdesirable.
Responsibilities: Teaching (70%), Research (25%) and Service(5%). Teach introductory through advanced courses in GIS, PhotoInterpretation and Remote Sensing. Assist with instruction in GPS/GISintegration. Assist lab supervisor with GIS/remote sensing hardware andsoftware maintenance and upgrades. Maintain Distance Education/Internetcurriculum in Geographic Information Science. Seek funding to developand maintain research mission of the Spatial Data Laboratory.
General Information: The Spatial Data Laboratory at LouisianaTech University is housed, maintained and licensed in the School ofForestry. The School of Forestry, which offers Bachelors of Sciencedegrees in Forestry (BSF) and in Wildlife Conservation (BS), has 11faculty and 150 undergraduate students and is accredited by the Societyof American Foresters.
