Position: Nine month, tenure track appointment, 70% teaching,25% research, 5% service. Salary commensurate with qualifications andexperience. Summer salary may be available.Qualifications: A Ph.D. in forestry or related discipline and atleast one degree in forestry is required. Applicant must have asignificant interest, experience, and demonstrated expertise in forestecology, particularly, entomology, pathology, and at least one otheraspect of forest ecology. The demonstrated ability to conduct research:to design studies, analyze and interpret data, publish manuscripts inprofessional journals, and transfer information to users is required.A working knowledge of GIS is desirable. A strong commitment toundergraduate education, teaching, and interacting with students isrequisite for the position. Strong communications skills are necessaryfor the successful candidate.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in forest healthand others as needed; advise undergraduate students; develop a researchprogram in forest health and/or ecology; seek and secure externalresearch funding; and participate in outreach activities. Thesuccessful applicant will be expected to build an externally fundedresearch program and work with forestry clients in the region.
General Information: The School of Forestry, which offersBachelors of Science degrees in Forestry (BSF) and in WildlifeConservation (BS), has 11 faculty and 150 undergraduate students and isaccredited by the Society of American Foresters. The School is in theCollege of Applied and Natural Science which has 74 faculty, 34 staffand 1,660 students. Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana,has an enrollment of approximately 11,000 students and is classified asa Doctoral II institution by the Carnegie Foundation.
