Position: Twelve month, non-tenure track appointment includinglaboratory supervision and maintenance as well as some teachingresponsibilities. Salary commensurate with qualifications andexperience.Qualifications: Earned Master of Science Degree in GeographicInformation Science, Forestry, Natural Resources, Geography orcombinations of these. ESRI training with a minimum of 3 yearsexperience using the following: ArcView and associated modules (SpatialAnalyst, Network Analyst, 3D analyst, etc.), ArcInfo and ERDAS.Experience with Trimble GPS equipment and working knowledge ofPathfinder Office, Terra Sync, etc. Experience with maintaining andupgrading hardware, software and firmware typically used in GIS/GPSapplications. Preference will be given to candidates who have teachingexperience in this field, particularly with a DistanceEducation/Internet curriculum background.
Responsibilities: Laboratory Supervision/Maintenance (90%) andTeaching (10%). Assist with instruction in introductory and intermediate levelGIS/GPS courses for both on-campus and off-campus clientele. Arrangeschedules and train student workers and laboratory assistants to assistusers of the Spatial Data Laboratory. Administer Windows 2000 in aclassroom setting; create and maintain Spatial Data Laboratory WebSites; assist faculty with research endeavors featuring GIS/GPSapplications.
General Information: The Spatial Data Laboratory at LouisianaTech University is housed, maintained and licensed in the School ofForestry. The School of Forestry, which offers Bachelors of Sciencedegrees in Forestry (BSF) and in Wildlife Conservation (BS), has 11faculty and 150 undergraduate students and is accredited by the Societyof American Foresters.
