An interdisciplinary team is looking for a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow to play a central role in developing a research and Extension project. This is a one year limited term non-tenure accruing position with the possibility of a second year contingent on availability of funding and satisfactory performance. This project fits into a long tradition of research on social forestry at Auburn. Full-time employees of Auburn University are eligible for an attractive benefits package.

Essential Job Functions: collect and analyze primary and secondary data; present papers at appropriate professional conferences; develop publications for appropriate peer-reviewed journals; support development and implementation of Extension programming; provide operational guidance and support to the project team, including graduate and undergraduate students and Extension personnel; be responsible for writing quarterly reports and assisting the Principle Investigator in preparation of other required reports and administrative details.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. an earned doctorate in forestry or a social science discipline (including anthropology, sociology, rural sociology, geography, economics, applied or agricultural economics, landscape architecture, or forestry with an emphasis on forest management or ecology)
2. demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
3. the ability to provide day-to-day operational direction for team
4. strong skills in written and verbal communication in English
5. strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
6. a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
1. demonstrated record of publications in appropriate academic outlets
2. experience working with Extension programming
3. knowledge of forestry in Alabama and/or the South
