Regional Extension Educator, Water Resource Management and Policy
The full-time Regional Extension Educator will facilitate locally-based community discussions about options for managing wastewater to meet local health, environmental protection and economic needs. The Regional Extension Educator will also educate homeowners about the management of their individual systems.Required qualifications: a completed Master's degree at time of appointment and at least one degree in soil science, agricultural, civil or environmental engineering, regional planning, natural resource or environmental sciences, or a closely related field; effective oral and written communication skills; the knowledge, skills and ability to plan, design, teach and evaluate research based educational programs; skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships both within the OSTP team and with colleagues, partners and stakeholders; ability to use technology for communication, information finding, program delivery and reporting; demonstrated ability to work effectively with new and diverse audiences, including those historically underserved by Extension; and commitment to ongoing professional development.Preferred qualifications: coursework in adult educational methods, economics, wastewater management, community development or a closely related field; two years professional experience in soil science, engineering, wastewater treatment, land use planning, community development or adult education; and experience facilitating community-based discussions.Submit a written narrative stating why you are interested in the position, your vision for an outreach program in Onsite Sewage Treatment, and a description of how your experience, qualifications, and professional interests relate to this position; resume or vita; three current letters of reference; and transcript(s) for all college work (unofficial transcripts are acceptable), to: Extension Human Resources, 260 Coffey Hall, 1420 Eckles Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55108; Phone: (612) 624-3717; Fax: (612) 624-7749; E-mail: babva001@umn.edu.Position will remain open until filled.
