Regional Extension Agent, Alabama Cooperative Extension

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking qualified applications for a Regional Extension Agent (REA) for the North West Alabama-Tennessee Valley region of Alabama. This position is a 100% Extension assignment covering seven counties. The Agent will be housed in one of the county offices of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System in the region. The natural resources of this region vary from the urban environments of Madison County to the more rural Franklin and Lawrence counties. Population growth in the Madison county area has made wildland/urban interface issues a growing priority.

Essential Job Functions: serve as the primary Extension educator for natural resources in the assigned seven-county region; responding to requests for technical information through telephone calls, email, letters, and other personal contacts; develop a regional technology transfer program through meetings, workshops, publications, web sites, etc. to provide natural resources related information to landowners, professionals, and the general public; and participate as part of a state-wide Extension Priority Program Team to plan, promote, and execute programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

1.  Bachelors degree in forestry, wildlife, fisheries or a closely related natural resource field

2.  a demonstrated strong interest in the technology transfer mission of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System

3. strong communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

1. Masters degree and experience with applied natural resources management, fish pond management and dealing with private landowners
