Rural Natural Resources Development Series: Technical Paper 2: A Generalized Guide to Small Aquaculture Enterprises
Aquaculture is the fastest growing sector of agriculture in the United States today. In the United States, aquaculture accounted for less than 1 percent of the edible fish consumed in 1970. In 1987 this had risen to 7 percent--an annualized growth rate of approximately 15 percent. Table 1 shows the astounding growth in the U.S. aquaculture production from 1980 to 1988.
