Gwen Beavens of the USDA Forest Service, along with illustrator Jack Elrod, has published a children's activity book titled "Living on the Wild Side...Responsibly: An Activity Book about Living Near Woodlands" through the USDA. This book is about the responsibilities, risks, and rewards of living where wildlands and urban environments meet, the area land managers refer to as the Wildland Urban Interface. It is designed for students in the third-sixth grades.
