On November 28-December 2, 2017, SREF Extension Associates Leslie Boby and Holly Campbell attended the 7th Association for Fire Ecology International Fire Congress in Orlando, FL. While the event was internationally-focused, the southern location this year offered participants an opportunity to highlight the southern United States. Forestry Extension personnel from across the country, including Holly Campbell, who presented on novel ways to engage landowners and communities in wildfire/prescribed fire education.

In August, 2017, SREF staff traveled to two important meetings: the Annual Regional Program Leadership Network meeting in Fort Worth, Texas and a National Forest Tax Experts summit in Washington, DC. Both meetings provided an excellent opportunity for SREF to engage with its partners ,and to opened up possibilities for new collaborations.

Foresters & Extension Agents from Multiple States Aid Those in Path of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey cut across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi this week. Our thoughts are with those afflicted by the devastation, but we are proud of the response we've seen from our Extension and forestry colleagues. We've gathered some links to illustrate the strength of that response and provided some some Extension resources to help forest landowners care for their land and trees in the storm's aftermath.
