Preliminary meeting program now available for the 15th BSSRC

It is less than three months from the 15th Biennial Southern SilviculturalResearch Conference (BSSRC), coming up from November 17-20, 2008, at theHot Springs Convention Center in beautiful Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The meetings preliminary program is now available at:
http://www.srs.fs.fed.us/bssrc2008/Program.htm  Included in this program is the schedule for all oral presentations (a poster session is offered on Tuesday, November 18).  The BSSRC will have an introductory plenary session, followed by 96 offered oral presentations and over 50 posters on various topics (pine and hardwood silviculture, modeling, economics, carbon and bioenergy, fires and fuels, soils and water, forest health) dealing with silvicultural in southern forestlands.  The proceedings will be published as a Forest Service General Technical Report.

Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credits (SAF Category 1-CF) are also being offered.

The late registration date has been moved back to October 23, so there still is plenty of time to register at the regular rate of $200 ($250 late registration after October 22).  There are also two option field tours being offered for an additional $40--seating is limited, so dont wait to register!

The official lodging venue for this meeting is the Embassy Suites Hotel (http://www.embassysuiteshotsprings.com/home.aspx), located immediately adjacent to the convention center.  There is a block of rooms reserved for this meeting until October 17.
