Atlanta, GA—The Forest Landowners Association (FLA) honored families and distinguished members of the forestry community during the 2010 National Forest Landowners Conference, June 2-4, in Stevenson, Washington. The family with the most members present at the 2010 National Forest Landowners Conference, the Land family originally of Melvin, Alabama with nine family members present, was recognized. Family members included Dorothy Gunn of Waynesboro, Mississippi; Mary Alva and Bob Seymour of Leavenworth, Kansas; Anthony, Meredith, Amelia, and Alice Lang of Lawrence, Kansas; and Jackie and Harry Haney of Austin, Texas.

The Urban Extension Conference will be May 7-10, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. It is being planned by the 12 North Central states and hosted by University of Missouri Extension. The planning committee has issued a call for presentations, and is looking for outstanding presenters to attend America’s finest urban conference for Extension Professionals whose focus is reaching new and diverse audiences in urban communities across the county.
The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council, (NUCFAC) announces a new approach and format for the U.S. Forest Service's National Urban and Community Forestry Challenge cost share grant program:
An innovative conference entitled “New Strategies for Urban Natural Resources: Integrating Wildlife, Fisheries, Forestry and Planning” is being planned in Chicago for May 2007.
WASHINGTON, May 23, 2006-Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today awarded more than $790,000 in federal cost-share grants to 12 organizations for use with urban and community forestry projects nationwide.
This conference focuses on how the economic, social and environmental returns from small-scale forestry can be improved. The conference is of relevance to both researchers and policy makers from developed and developing countries. There will be a particular focus on using systems-based approaches for improving returns from small-scale forestry and agroforestry
This is the final call for abstracts for our conference "Emerging Issues Along Urban/Rural Interfaces: Linking Land-Use Science and Society", to be held April 9-12, 2007 at the Sheraton Atlanta. The conference announcement is below and the deadline for submission of abstracts is January 31, 2007. We have a dwindling pool of money made available by NSF to provide travel grants for students.
The program committee for the joint meeting of the American Society for Environmental History and Forest History Society invites panel, paper, and poster proposals for its March-April 2006 meeting in St. Paul, Minnesota. Proposals may address any area of environmental history, but in keeping with the conference themes the committee specifically solicits submissions examining the place of landscapes in environmental history. The conference site, hard by the Mississippi River, is a perfect setting in which to discuss the role of water in defining landscapes, natural and built, and their intersection and evolution.
