BLACKSBURG, Va., Aug. 24, 2010 – Thomas R. Fox of Christiansburg, Va., professor of forestry in Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research and teaching at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago, Chile.

Washington, D.C.: C.T. "Kip" Howlett, Jr. has been selected as the new Executive Director of the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) announced E. Austin Short III, President of the NASF Board of Directors and Delaware State Forester. "We are pleased to have the experience and background of Kip as our new Executive Director; his experience and background will help us to meet the growing challenges of achieving sustainable forests managed in the public interest," noted Mr. Short.

By Carol L. Spence LEXINGTON, Ky., (April 29, 2009) -- The management of privately held woodlands is a family affair. The 2009 Woodland Owners Short Course reflects that view by offering, for the first time, beginners and advanced programs based on an individual's or family's experience and interest level. A youth program will run concurrently with the day-long adult programs. The course also has moved to Saturdays to accommodate people's busy schedules.

BLACKSBURG, June 8, 2007 - Mila Alvarez, a professor in Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and working at the university's National Capital Region campus, has authored a comprehensive report for the Society of American Foresters (SAF) that details everything there is to know about American forests.

The Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources announced that its Department of Forestry as changed its name to the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation <http://www.forestry.vt.edu/> (http://www.forestry.vt.edu/) to better reflect the breadth and depth of the many natural resource programs offered.
